Reflection of the Soul
Seeing the Looking Glass

Ever wonder what you look like? All the time I'm sure, several times a day, but we just walk over to a mirror, and we find out.

But what if we didn't have any mirrors. In fact, what if there was no way to see ourselves reflected in some other object? How would we know what we look like without our reflection? We wouldn't. We may be able to look at our hands and feet, even most of the front of our body, but we wouldn’t ever know what our face looks like. So how would we find out? From everyone else.

We would have to ask other people what we look like and ask them to describe our features. They would have to describe the shape of our eyes, nose, and mouth. They would tell us the color of our hair and our eyes. If someone said we had similar features to someone else, or maybe even looked just like some other person, by seeing that person, we would understand what we look like.

We don't always see ourselves. We don’t always realize our own behavior and we don’t always see our own actions and thoughts. Has anyone said you act just like someone else, and you don’t believe it? Has anyone pointed out your flaws, and you accuse them of lying, maybe even being jealous and trying to put you down? How many times have you given good advice, but not followed your own? How many times do you hear someone's story, and instantly know what they should do, and yet can't solve your own problems? Even if this doesn’t describe you, I'm sure you know plenty of people like this. There are so many amazing people who don’t realize how wonderful, how beautiful, or how important, strong, or inspiring they really are. We don’t always see our true self. Good and bad traits alike, it’s not always evident to ourselves.

That's where the mirrors come in. A mirror reflects light, and that is what we all really are, and that is what God is… light. God knew how difficult it would be for us to truly see ourselves. But he knew how important it would be to know one’s self.

God needed to place some mirrors around so we could see ourselves. An actual mirror reflects our physical appearance, so what would reflect our being, our true self? What would reflect energy? Enter the laws of the universe: the law of cause and effect, the law of attraction, and Karma itself. God wanted it to be as simple as possible, and he wanted to make sure we didn't miss our reflection. So he made everything a mirror. We attract things into and create our lives through cause and effect. Every thought and action we put out comes back at us. Welcome to the looking glass of life. Take a look around and see your reflection.

Every experience, every place, and every person in your life is a reflection of your true being and your thoughts. It is all here for you. And why? When you look into a mirror, what do you normally do? You check yourself. You look to see if anything is wrong. Is my hair Okay? Am I dressed well? Is my make-up Okay? Do I look good? And what if you don't? If anything is out of place, what do you do? You fix it. That is why the world is reflecting us. We were meant to look at everything and everyone, and not see things to criticize about them, but to see our reflection, straighten ourselves out, learn and grow. We need to start taking a better look in the spiritual mirror, and we need to fix what is out of place within our own lives.

The next time you are angry and want to blame or critique someone, make sure you're just not seeing yourself. It is common practice for humans to project themselves onto other people, but it’s not just about projection. Everyone else is actually reflecting our own energy back at us. God gave us each other so we would know what we truly look like. Everything is a reflection of you. Learn who you are by using your looking glass. We are mirrors to each other, and we all help each and every one to truly see ourselves. We are not here to judge each other, we are here to help each other. We are here to show each other the way, and reflect each other’s light.

God's Reflection

I wonder if God has a mirror? Can he see himself? If he is everything, he cannot step away from himself to see himself. He would have to somehow create a mirror inside of himself, that part of his being that could reflect his essence and light. So, he created a different sort of mirror. Life.

We are God's mirror. He sees himself through us. We are his reflection. That is why he made us in his image. We are creating and reflecting the light of God back to him so he can see himself. God is everything, so everything we do is a reflection of God.

Imagine what the world will be when we realize it. How can the sad state of humanity today be compared to God Almighty? How can we truly be a reflection of His magnificence? We are only seeing an instant, not the full image. We look in a mirror, and instantly see a reflection. If we took a photo every year, at the end of our life we would have a little movie showing how we grow up, and aged, and we could watch it all at once. There is no time for God, so even if we take another 2000 years to finally reflect God's true beauty... He still sees it all in one motion. He sees it all now. The beginning and the end of it all.

So don't worry about what we looked like yesterday or even today as God's reflection. It's tomorrow's reflection we are striving for, and what a beautiful sight it will be.
