What Was Today?

What was lost today?
Some money? A wallet? A car?
A friend? A girlfriend? A husband? A child?
Trust? Faith? A life?

What was hurt today?
A finger? A leg?
A brother? A mother? A family?
Feelings? Pride? A heart?

How much more will be hurt, lost, and destroyed
before we lose ourselves?

What was healed today?
An old cut. A broken bone.
A scared friendship. A disjointed home.
A wounded heart.

What was found today?
A new coin. A new job.
A new friend. A new family. A new love.
A new faith. A new Life. A new God.

How much more will be found, discovered, and reborn
on the way to finding ourselves?

All that is broken will be healed.
All that has been lost, will be found.
All with the same Heart.
All with the same Soul.
All in time.

Hope and Fear

If you give in, what do you get?
Tears and Regret.
Doubt and Sorrow.
Always wondering about Tomorrow.
Never quite sure where you Stand.
Never having secure footing on your own Homeland.
Worries and Fear overrun your Mind.
Hope, Joy, and Love become hard to Find.

If you let go, what do you get?
A world of Beauty and a bright Sunset.
Smiles and Laughter. Always wanting more.
Not being afraid of what Life has in store.
Being Happy and wanting to Play.
Always knowing it is another good day.
Feeling good and knowing God exists.
If there is Hope and Love, Fear no longer Persists.

Wake up with Laughter, instead of with Tears.
Spend your day thinking of Joy, instead of all your Fears.
Smile and be at Peace. Why worry all Day?
There's no need to feel Alone, when everyone wants you to Stay.
Why stand in the Shadows when you can be in the Sun?
Why beat yourself up, when you can be having Fun?
Who wants a pit in their stomach instead of Butterflies?
Look at the World with Hope, instead of with Fear in your Eyes

It is in Me.
It is in You.
It is in Us.

Around us.
Through us.
Between us.

It connects us. Binds us.
It brings us together... or tears us apart.
It creates...and destroys

It is Everywhere and in Everything
Every living thing.
Every plant. Every animal.
Every being.

From the atoms that make us up,
to the galaxies our worlds form.
It is the creator of time and space.
The fabric of the universe and everything in it.
It is the life force of all things seen and unseen.

It is Energy.

One Flame

One flame can only light one corner
One flame can light another

Two flames can light two corners
Two flames can each light another,
set them aglow, spread the light

Four flames can each light a corner
Light an entire room
and one room can ignite another

Two rooms can set aglow two more
and spread the light
Light a home

Each flame continues to light another,
spreading the light,
lighting every corner of the world
Every room, every house, every Heart

If we all share our light with another
Eventually all will be illuminated
and the World will no longer
be in darkness

Proud to be an American
Always remember 9/11

I did not hear the crashes.
I did not hear the explosions.
I did not hear cries of pain and horror.

I heard something else...
I heard a nation coming together in a time of need.
I heard the heart of America beating even harder
For those no longer beating.
And I heard the Bells of Freedom ringing
Louder than ever before.

Our planes have been taken
Our pride has not.
Our buildings have been shattered
Our hearts have not.
Our towers have fallen
Our Nation will not.

Our Nation will rise.
All nations who stand for Freedom will rise.
We the American people will rise.

These attackers have succeeded...
They have succeeded in bringing us together
And reminded us that we are all brothers, all sisters, all Americans.
Most of all, they have succeeded in opening our eyes,
Opening our hearts and making them beat a little stronger
Than they did yesterday
